Adding the widget to your website with Shopify is quick and easy. In just a few minutes, you can have it added and ready to connect with visitors. Follow this guide to set up the widget on your Shopify store and start engaging with your customers right away.
Step-by-step installation with Shopify
Step 1: Open your widget settings
Go to your Text App dashboard, then head to Settings → Website widgets. If you're connecting your website during onboarding, you can also click the Connect website widget from your homepage task list instead.
Step 2: Enter your website URL
Enter the URL of the website where you want to install the widget.

Step 3: Select how to connect the widget to text.com
You'll be prompted to use the Shopify installation method. Click Connect to continue the installation process.

Step 4: Approve the necessary view and edit permissions
You will be redirected to your Shopify dashboard. Review the permissions requested by Text App, then click Install.

Make sure you're logged in (or ready to log in) to your Shopify dashboard. If needed, you can choose an alternative installation method, such as adding the code manually to your website or connecting the widget through GTM.
Step 5: Connect Shopify to Text App
In Text App, you'll see a prompt to Add the widget to your Shopify store.
Click Add widget, and you'll be redirected to Shopify to enable the widget.

Step 6: Enable the widget in Shopify Theme Editor
In your Shopify Theme Editor, click Save to apply the changes.

Once you save your changes, the website widget will become visible to your customers. You can preview your site and the website widget and customize it to match your site's design.
Step 7: Check the installation status
If everything is working, the status in Text App (Settings → Website widgets) will show Connected, and you'll get a notification that your website widget is live 🎉.
If you haven't received a notification that your website widget is live, but it's turned on in Shopify, click Continue. You'll then be asked to visit your website to check manually.
If Text App still shows "Widget not detected on your website" after you've visited it, you can either Start over the installation process or select another installation method, such as adding the code manually to your website or connecting the widget through GTM.
Want to add Text to more websites?
You can repeat the installation process for as many sites as you need.
For websites without Shopify, you can follow the alternative installation guide or connect the widget using GTM.

You can always check or manage your installation in Settings → Website widgets.
