The Instagram integration connects your Instagram Professional account to Text, so you can handle direct messages and story replies straight from your inbox.
You sign in with your Instagram account directly, so no Facebook Page is required. Reply, assign conversations to teammates, or let your AI agent handle them, exactly like any other channel.
When someone sends you a DM or replies to your story, the conversation appears in your Text inbox and you answer without opening the Instagram app.
What do you need to connect Instagram to Text?
You need an Instagram Professional account, either Business or Creator, and the login credentials for it.
Personal accounts cannot be connected. If you sign in with a personal account, Instagram switches it to a Professional account as part of the setup.
How to set up Instagram
In Text, go to Settings > Channels > Instagram and click Connect Instagram.
Log in with your Instagram credentials.
Review the permissions Instagram lists and click Allow. Text requests profile and media access (required), access to manage comments, and access to manage messages. Leave the messages permission enabled, because that is what lets conversations reach your inbox.
Back in Text, send a test message from Instagram to your account and confirm it appears as a chat.
To connect another account, click + New account above the accounts table.
Managing your connected Instagram accounts
Every account you connect appears in a table with the Account name, Status, Instagram link, and Actions columns. A working connection shows the Connected status.
There is no limit on how many Instagram accounts you can connect to one license, and messages from all of them land in the same inbox. If you already run Messenger or WhatsApp in Text, Instagram chats sit alongside them.
Sharing your Instagram with customers
Click Open next to an account to get a chat link and a QR code you can share with customers.
The chat link uses the ig.me/username format. Add it to your website, your email footer, or a social post, and anyone who follows it starts a DM that arrives in Text.
Disconnecting an Instagram account
Click Disconnect in the Actions column, then confirm in the modal that opens.
Disconnecting stops new messages and revokes Text's access on the Instagram side at the same time. Your past conversations stay available in the chat archive.
To start receiving messages again, connect the account once more. You will be asked to log in and grant the permissions a second time.

No. Disconnecting only stops new messages from coming in. Conversations you already handled stay in your archive for the retention period included in your plan, so you can still search them and open individual chats.
